MT5 Account Connection & Troubleshooting

Learn how to securely link your MetaTrader 5 account to Ascentrade and fix common connection errors.

Ascentrade acts as an analytical wrapper over your existing MetaTrader 5 (MT5) accounts. Connecting your account is secure, encrypted end-to-end, and takes less than two minutes.

How to Link Your MT5 Account

  1. Navigate to Connection Form: Go to your sidebar menu, click MT5 Accounts, and select Add MT5 Account (or click the quick action button on the Home Dashboard).
  2. Select Your Broker: Start typing your broker's name (e.g., Deriv, IC Markets, Pepperstone). If you do not see your broker listed, use the Feedback form to request it; our team adds new brokers within 24 hours.
  3. Select Your Server: Choose the specific server your account resides on (e.g., Deriv-Demo, ICMarkets-Demo2). This must match the exact server name displayed in your MT5 terminal.
  4. Enter Credentials:
    • Account Number: Your MT5 login ID (numeric value).
    • Trading Password: Your MT5 trading password. (Note: Read-only investor passwords will allow journal syncing but disable risk protection actions).
  5. Confirm and Link: Click Link MT5 Account. The Ascentrade backend will test the terminal authorization and sync your balance/history.

Troubleshooting Common Errors

1. Terminal Authorization Failed

  • Cause: Incorrect account number, password, or server selection.
  • Solution:
    • Double-check that you can log into the official MT5 mobile or desktop app using the exact same credentials.
    • Verify that you selected the correct server name. Server names are case-sensitive and must match exactly.
    • Make sure your account has not expired or been deactivated by your broker due to inactivity.

2. IPC Timeout / Backend Offline

  • Cause: The secure sandbox container hosting the MT5 terminal instance timed out during initial login or synchronization.
  • Solution:
    • Wait 1-2 minutes and try linking again.
    • If the issue persists, the broker's servers might be undergoing maintenance. Try during active market hours.

3. Server Name Not Listed

  • Cause: The MT5 broker has added a new server division that is not registered in our index database.
  • Solution:
    • Submit a quick request via the Feedback tab. Mention your broker name and the exact server string. We will deploy the broker definition update within 24 hours.
