Getting started (Part 3): How use the journaling and insight feature on the Ascentrade app

How to use the journaling and insight feature on the Ascentrade app

PS: This is a continuation of Part 2.

The journaling and insights feature is quite easy to use. To have journals of your trade added to your account is quite automatic, but we leave the unique aspects to you.

Below is how to use the journals — first, create a strategy (strategy is universal regardless of the account, meaning you can use a strategy on multiple accounts).

On the Ascentrade app: open menu > Strategies > Create Strategy. Fill the information and choose the range of timeframes the strategy works best or you pick trades on.

Go back to the account you connected in the former article; pick a trade on it from the MT5 mobile app. After you pick a trade, you get a notification from the Ascentrade app in seconds asking you to fill important information.

Ps: Take a screenshot of the chart to further enhance the effectiveness of the journal when you look back on it.

Click on the notification and you would be taken to the app with a popup to fill the unique information: strategy used, entry timeframe (it must be among the timeframes you chose for the strategy), optional note, and the screenshot.

When you are done, click Add entry. You can choose your new entry that is Ongoing to view details. The application fills the rest of the journal details; if you missed the popup, use the Edit button (pen icon) to add information.

When you close a trade, repeat the flow to update the journal and use Complete entry. You can open the full journal details from there.

Insights

Access Insights from the home page via View all beside Recent Entries, or the insights icon on the bottom navigation.

On the insights page you get charts for wins and losses with filters (dates, custom times, strategy, timeframes). Long press chart bars for details. You also get ratio charts of won vs lost vs ongoing trades.

Below the charts is the journals section with filters — time, success rate, completed or ongoing, strategy type, and more.

Use the Search icon (top right) to search by pair name, description/note, or lesson learnt.

If you want more custom filters, drop feedback on the application. For other enquiries, use feedback or contact us from the site.
